At Basildon Chemicals we are aware that the consumers of today are concerned about how the chemicals we use in our daily lives impact upon the environment. Two of the most critical issues in this debate are how these chemicals affect the environment and how persistent in the environment they will be.

As a manufacturer and formulator, we at Basildon Chemicals are proud of the fact that the vast majority of our silicone products are non-hazardous in nature. During soil contact, the silicones in our products readily degrade via hydrolysis into inert silica, carbon dioxide and water thus minimising the environmental impact. In addition to this, many of our products, such as our high quality antifoams, can be used in such low concentrations to achieve the desired results that environmental impact is further minimised. This is supported by a number of studies that have concluded that the degradation of polydimethysiloxane fluid (silicone fluid) is ecologically inert and is just one of the reasons that silicones are so widely used in the markets of the world today.
