Silicone Fluids
Linear polydimethylsiloxanes of varying molecular weight. They are clear, inert, non-toxic, odourless and completely insoluble in water. They have the following structure.
As n increases viscosity increases.

Cyclic Volatile Silicones
These are cyclic polydimethylsiloxanes, which evaporate at different temperatures. They are clear and colourless, insoluble in water but soluble in alcohol. They are widely used in personal care, but are used in other industries.

Aminofunctional Silicone Fluids
These are polydimethylsiloxanes with aminofunctional substitutions. They are mainly used in polishes for their durability and detergent resistance and in textiles as a base to formulate softeners.

Organofunctional Silicone Fluids
These silicone fluids are composed of a siloxane molecular backbone with organic polyalkylene oxide pendants. They are referred to as silicone glycols or as dimethicone copolyol in personal care. By varying the EO/PO content they provide a wide range of useful performance characteristics. Basildon Chemicals silicone glycols are non-ionic and function in both aqueous and non-aqueous systems.
